How it works
- What moves the heat
- Water. The Hub pumps water through channels in the Cover, which fits over your mattress like a fitted sheet.
- Does it actively chill?
- Yes. The Hub actively cools and heats the water (down to 55°F).
- Heats?
- Yes: 55–110°F.
- One or two people
- Two-person: one Hub runs both sides of the bed at different temperatures (the Solo option covers one side).
- Setup
- Hub sits beside the bed with about 10″ of clearance; the Cover goes on the mattress under your sheets. Fill the Hub’s water tank and prime it from the app. Eight Sleep says setup takes 15–30 minutes. No tools needed (unverified). Whether one person can do it: not stated (unverified).
- Noise
- Low hum, mostly when the temperature is changing. Eight Sleep publishes no decibel figure for the Pod 6 (unverified).
- Maintenance
- Refill the water when the app prompts (about every couple of months; Eight Sleep says change it every 2–3 months). Clean the Cover with mild detergent; don’t machine-wash it.
- Power
- One standard wall outlet (120/240V AC input). Hub output is rated 550W.

Performance & features
Performance & features: 5/5 for water cooling and heating on each side (55–110°F) plus real-time, sensor-driven adjustment: built-in sensors read sleep stage, heart rate, HRV, breathing and room temperature, and Autopilot adjusts through the night (not a preset schedule).

True 3-year cost: $3,496 (Autopilot Standard $199/yr, required year 1)
Key specs
- Cover + Hub; water-based cooling and heating on each side, 55–110°F
- Autopilot (all tiers): the Cover’s built-in sensors read sleep stage, heart rate, HRV, breathing rate and room temperature, and Autopilot adjusts each side’s temperature in real time through the night; not a preset schedule
- Built-in sensors: sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, breathing; no wearable
- Vibration and thermal alarm; snore detection (Base elevates when snoring is detected)
- Sleep & health tracking; vibration/thermal alarm
- Autopilot required for first 12 months: Standard $199, Enhanced $299, Elite $399 per year
- 30-night trial; free shipping and returns
Our take: After year 1 you can cancel Autopilot: the Pod still cools manually but loses automatic temperature, alarms, reports, and the membership-linked warranty. 3-year cost assumes Standard kept all 3 years. Pod 6 replaced the Pod 4 and Pod 5 in September 2026. Prices from eightsleep.com, checked Oct 20, 2026.
